ImageThree Cord Wonder's The Jesus Rock Show received a stellar review in Interlinc's YLO (Youth Leaders Only) August 2007 magazine.  Big thanks to the entire team at Interlinc!

 Check out the review!

The Jesus Rock Show from Three Cord Wonder (3CW) is, on the surface, a tightly produced pop/punk record full of catchy guitar riffs and addictive melody lines.  This might be enough for many teenagers, but you and I know that they long for more.  Once you listen to this album again, you begin to notice that there is something more: an invitation to Jesus Christ.

The songs on this album are a good mix of high energy romps through personal topics like self-awareness (“Who I Am Today”) and hypocrisy (“Get Up”).  3CW also sings about how labeling other people is unfair (“The Way You Thought”) and how we all occasionally have really bad days (“One of These Days”).  Throughout these songs, this band is open about their faith in Jesus Christ and their calling to share the Gospel.  Creating an event, program, or Bible lesson around any of these songs would be easy.

There are two highlights on this album:
1) The title track, “The Jesus Rock Show” is a postmodern reflection on 3CW’s vocation.  They sing, I went to the Jesus rock show, was Jesus really there? This is a great reminder to keep Christ at the core.

2) For many bands, a bonus track filled with thank you’s wouldn’t be worth listening to.  3CW offers us one that is.  In total, “Etc.” is a 25-minute track.  The first 14 minutes is silent.  Silence is a rarity in our world today, and yet it is where we can best deepen our personal relationship with God.  When the band members begin their thank-you’s, they each begin with thanking God, reminding us that Christians are a eucharistic people.  That means we are a people of thanksgiving.  After giving thanks, we are treated to a bonus tune about parental love for a child, no matter what.

The Jesus Rock Show is a real gift to youth workers.  We can show our gratitude by sharing this music with our teenagers.

About Speak Records

Speak Records, Inc. is committed to promoting and producing Christ-centered, ministry-oriented artists and music with the goal of presenting the Gospel of Jesus Christ.  The name “SPEAK” comes from Ephesians 5:19-20 which says “SPEAK to one another with psalms, hymns, and spiritual songs.  Sing and make music in your heart to the Lord, always giving thanks to God the Father for everything, in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ (NIV).”  Furthermore, Speak Records will support, train, equip and encourage their artists to persevere in ministry much the same way that the Apostle Paul encourages Timothy in 1 Timothy 4:14-16.  “Don’t fail to use the gift the Holy Spirit gave you.  He gave it to you through a message from God.  It was given when the elders placed their hands on you.  Keep on doing those things.  Give them your complete attention.  Then everyone will see how you are coming along.  Be careful of how you live and what you believe.  Never give up.  Then you will save yourself and those who hear you (NIRV).”
